New News

I finally have a legit customized Cristy Cross Photography Logo. No more Floralia letter G for me. (a font I used for my old logo) It has been in the works for several months, but today is the day I'm finally sharing it with you. A friend of mine located in Los Angeles, Paige Anderson of Bash Eco Events designed it for me. I wanted something that was my own, but also reminded me of the Anthropologie design on the invoice bag. She did a perfect job in creating exactly what I wanted. Thanks Paige.

On to personal news...
Ben and I are going to New York in June, which is this month-OMG! And we have plans to eat at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill, see a broadway show (deciding on Wicked or In the Heights) and also visit China Town. We are staying at the aka right in Time Square and we are going to try and see Rob Thomas perform on the Today show.
The last time I went was in high school with my church youth group in 1999, and the last time for Ben was when he was a freshman in college with Campus Crusade for Christ also in 1999. So I guess in away we are taking a ten year reunion trip to NY.

Please share any suggestions you have. Where are some authentic places to eat? Shop?
We are so excited. While we are in NY, Benson will be staying with my parents. The whole reason the trip even came up was because they offered to watch him if we wanted to go on vacation, just the two of us. And we were like OKAY!

New York! Yay! I lived there for a few months, and here are a few things I recommend. Try to do as much on your own as possible, no tours. You will see more things if you go at your own pace. Get a guide book, and it will tell you lots of interesting facts that the guides just learn from anyway. Do not pay full price from sites or call to get tickets. Wait until you are there and go to the TKTS booth in Times Square as soon as they open. (you'll have to check it the day before for times) That way you can see two shows at the price you would pay for one regularly. The only thing is that you have to buy them day of only. If you want to see the Statue of Liberty, but don't have time to go to it, take the Statton Island Ferry. It's free and goes right by it. China town is a must for cheap buys and bartering. Get a subway map and take the subway as much as possible. It's cheap, and not hard to read the map. There is an Italian restaurant in Times Square called Tony's. On 43rd st. Really good, meals priced well, and two people can share one plate, as they are HUGE!! Get to the Today Show early to get up close for the concert, but either way you WILL get to see him, no matter the time. On the corner where they broadcast, you can stand in front of the window and you will be on TV when they are filming on that side, but few people know this. Watch the today show and see what I mean about people walking by the window. You must go to SOHO. I think you will love the shopping. Oh, there are also summer street fairs in different locations in the city. Find out if there is one when you are going...Go, it's so worth it! http://www.nyctourist.com/st_fairs_calendar.htm

oh wow ashley thank you so much. That is awesome info! And Kayla I would love to go to Serendipity. And I imagine any broadway play we see will be awesome. I've heard tons of great stuff about Wicked and just recently In the Heights. I saw Beauty and the Beast last time I was there and it was SO awesome. I figure Lion King is really great too. I guess we might wait and see when we get there.

Thanks for all the tips! Keep 'em coming!!

Oh girl...there's not enough room on here to write! haha...ok. Totally agree with person above about statue of Liberty. You can't go up it anymore, and I don't think it's worth waiting forever...I prefer taking the Staten Island ferry at night...you get a great view of the city and the statue at night...it's sweet. And if you like a cold beverage, I think the ones on the ferry are the cheapest in the city...haha! Best of all, the trip is free! Just hop off it when it gets to Staten Island, run back around to hop back on it with the crowd headed to the city. There's a great Thai restaurant called Spice on University Pl and 10th St. ...sooo good!
And I know it's summer but you HAVE to go to this place called City Bakery...I think I told you about it cuz they make their own marshmallows! Anyway they have THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE IN THE WORLD!! They have cold or frozen hot chocolate in the summer...but it just isn't as good as the regular. TRUST ME. GET IT! It is on...18th Street...I think just off of 5th Ave. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
And there's always central park...my friend and I loved to go to Whole Foods(at Columbus Circle which is right on the SW corner of the park) and grab some food, then go have a little picnic in the park. If it's a weekend, there's usually crazy people on old school roller skates with mc hammer pants that dance in circles around a sound system set up with a DJ...They are just NE of Sheep Meadow...walk that way and you can't miss the music!
Shopping...ah. For fun clothes and cheaper prices, I'd shop up and down broadway(just north of Chinatown). Absolutely go to H&M! But for sure go in all the fun boutiques in Soho as well.
Anyway, those are few faves...holler at me if you want more!

Also the crown of the Statue of Liberty reopens on July 4th. So you can now go up to the crown. You should also eat at John's Pizza.

I agree with Jalaina - John's Pizzeria (very close to Time Square) is a must! http://www.johnspizzerianyc.com
